West Brom could lose Okay Yokuslu within months as summer transfer window update emerges

West Brom could lose Okay Yokoslu to Trabzonspor at the end of the season amid previous interest in the midfielder, according to Sports Digitale.

The Turkish outlet reported via its official X account [19 March] that the Super Lig side could make an attempt to sign the 30-year-old midfielder, who will remain at The Hawthorns until the campaign finishes.

Interest from Turkey dates back to the January transfer window, as it was reported, as per HaberTS, that Trabzonspor had stepped up their efforts to sign Yokuslu, but no transfer came to fruition.

Could Carlos Corberan lose Okay Yokuslu at West Brom?

If the Baggies were to lose their Turkish midfield general during the summer transfer window, it could have devastating effects at The Hawthorns, whether they claim promotion to the Premier League this season or not.

Yokuslu has been an ever-present performer under Carlos Corberan, starting 34 of West Brom’s 38 Championship matches so far, creating a formidable partnership with Alex Mowatt at the base of midfield.

Though Shilen Patel’s new takeover of the club should provide the ability to bring in new and exciting players, a summer exit of Yokuslu would send shockwaves to the fans and leave them saddened.

Having smashed home an incredible effort in West Brom’s 4-1 comeback victory over Huddersfield Town on Sunday 10 March, it was evident how much the club means to Yokuslu, having only arrived in July 2022.

However, his previous links to Trabzonspor between 2015 and 2018, form a genuine possibility that The Hawthorns could lose a fan favourite during the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old, who will be nearing the end of his career in the coming years, has failed to stay in one place for a long period of time, with his longest spell at a club lasting four years while at Kayserispor.
