West Brom: Richard Beale wowed by Shilen Patel meeting in new Premier League claim
West Brom Academy boss Richard Beale has insisted he and his staff will do all they can to help the club push for promotion to the Premier League after a meeting with Shilen Patel.
Beale confessed that while their discussion was only brief, there has been a “fantastic” platform built by the club and the new ownership to help push forward.
He also insisted the arrival of a new owner in Patel has provided a boost to everybody at The Hawthorns, with the future looking rosy.
Speaking to Birmingham Live [26 March], Beale explained: “I met the new guys when they got a tour around the training ground, it was nice to speak to Shilen and the other guys involved. It was only very brief and fleeting, but everyone’s very happy of course.
“It’s a fantastic platform to build from and go forward now, especially off the back of what the first team are doing. Everything feels great and is geared up for this club to get back in the Premier League, which will be fantastic.
“If me and the other academy staff can help in any way, shape or form then we are happy to do so. I’m sure the new ownership will want to invest in all parts of the club and we are all looking forward to that.
“It’s a big boost to have them on board, we can look to a rosy future and a platform to build from.”
Shilen Patel impact continues to inspire at West Brom
Since his takeover was confirmed on 28 February, Patel has been establishing a strong connection with the club, be it via interviews, interaction with fans and staff, or simply just being present at The Hawthorns – all things which were severely lacking under Guochuan Lai.
Fans were buzzing at the promise of constant communication from the new ownership as he assured supporters that transparency will always be key under his guidance, seeming to place the fans at the forefront of his thinking.
With the fans well and truly on his side, and nothing but positive words coming from Carlos Corberan, Beale’s new comments will only improve the positive rapport Patel has built up since his arrival, with the whole club now in a positive frame of mind.

With that positive mindset and the strong possibility that the first team achieves a playoff place this season to land a shot at promotion, Beale’s shout to aim for the Premier League does not seem too far off. Who would’ve thought that at the start of the season?
