West Brom share official Josh Maja injury update as image from The Hawthorns shown on social media

West Brom have confirmed Josh Maja is back in training after the forward was spotted at The Hawthorns on Tuesday.

Albion hosted an open training day at their ground ahead of a return to Championship action against Millwall at The Den on Friday (29 March).

On Tuesday afternoon (26 March), West Brom uploaded a picture of Maja, 25, on their official X account training with his teammates, suggesting he could be available for the trip to South-East London.

The former Sunderland striker has been out of action with an ankle ligament issue since December after being forced off the field in a 2-1 defeat at the Stadium of Light.

Will Josh Maja play for West Brom against Millwall?

Maja’s poor fitness record this season suggests Baggies boss Carlos Corberan is likely to ease the forward back in slowly.

The 25-year-old has managed just nine Championship appearances so far this term, totalling only 168 minutes, with eight of those coming as a substitute.

In especially unfortunate circumstances, it was in the first half of his first start of the campaign that he suffered his most recent injury setback.

Corberan has recently turned to club captain Jed Wallace to plug the gap up front and his faith was rewarded in the Baggies’ last outing, a 2-0 win over Bristol City in which Wallace netted the crucial second goal.

It seems likely that the head coach will persist with his skipper at centre-forward in the short term at least as he eases Maja back to full fitness from the bench.

In other West Brom news, Corberan inspired a bunch of academy aces with a “fantastic” gesture.
