Shilen Patel sends new message to West Brom after Tuesday announcement at The Hawthorns
West Brom chairman Shilen Patel has sent a new message of thanks to The Albion Foundation after they were named the Championship Community Club of the Season.
The Baggies Foundation were handed the award on Tuesday (26 March) because of their wonderful work in the Albion community and they could now be in line to win the overall award which will be announced on 14 April.
While many voices have come out to heap praise on the foundation’s work, Patel was quick to heap praise on the organisation’s “top of the league” performance and credit the volunteers and staff.
Writing on X on Wednesday (27 March) he said: “Top of the League in community impact. Credit well-deserved for our volunteers, staff, partners and board.
“Thank you all for showing how much difference a club can make in its community.”

It’s safe to say that West Brom supporters have taken to Patel incredibly quickly at The Hawthorns and these sorts of tweets are exactly why fans like their new chairman as he is so engaged with everything going on with the club.
Patel has already heaped praise on both the men’s and women’s teams at The Hawthorns and it is nice to see him also engaging with the foundation and the charity side of the club as it such an important part of modern football.
It makes an incredibly nice change from the previous regime in charge of the Baggies which were almost invisible during their tenure. A football club chairman should be visible and engaged with fans and Patel is exactly that.
Hopefully, he will continue to win over supporters in the coming seasons. With Carlos Corberan in the dugout and Patel calling the shots as chairman, Albion have the foundations to do something incredibly special this season.
