West Brom: Carlos Corberan shares Josh Maja and Matt Phillips injury updates v Millwall

Carlos Corberan has revealed both Matt Phillips and Josh Maja could be involved in the squad as West Brom face Millwall at The Den on 29 March.

The boss explained that, while Phillips is further ahead in his recovery process than Maja, both have been in training during the international break.

He went on to share that Phillips will be involved in the game against Millwall, while Maja has one more week of training left before he can be properly involved, but could be named in the squad.

Speaking to the Express & Star [28 March], Corberan revealed: “Both have been training and like we said before Phillips is in front of Josh in terms of his recovery.

“Josh completed his first full training last Thursday, so it means right now Phillips will be involved in the squad tomorrow, I can tell you, he will be with the team.

“Josh Maja, I think we are one week away from the medical approval that allows me to involve him, he still needs to accumulate more days of training. If everything goes well he will be ready to be part of the squad.”

Huge boost for West Brom as injury news emerges

The loss of Maja in particular was a huge blow for the Baggies given their struggles to find a regular goalscorer up front this season, and given the relatively short time he has spent in the first-team plans in between two injury blows.

His return could be a massive boost for Corberan going into the final stretch of the season, as Albion know they have their fate in their own hands with regard to the battle for the playoffs, and perhaps eventually promotion.

Phillips, meanwhile, has had questions lingering over his long-term future at The Hawthorns given his contract situation and the need to slash the wage bill with the financial issues behind-the-scenes finally set to be addressed.

West Brom

Whether he remains a West Brom player beyond the end of the season or not, his talent and experience could be key for the remainder of the season if he can have an immediate impact upon his return.
