West Brom: Karlan Grant could be set for permanent Hawthorns exit after new comments
Karlan Grant has admitted he will have a conversation with Carlos Corberan about his future at The Hawthorns when he returns to West Brom after his loan spell with Cardiff.
The on-loan striker has confessed it will be an interesting summer for him amid uncertainty over his future, although he still has two years left on his contract at Albion.
A permanent return to Cardiff could be on the cards as he claimed the clubs would have a discussion, but it looks likely West Brom could look to bring in a fee for him.
Speaking to Birmingham Live [28 March], Grant confessed: “We’ll have to see. I’ve still got years left on my contract at West Brom, so it’s a conversation for the clubs to have.
“I’ll go back and have a chat with my representatives and we’ll see what the best option is for me. It’s [a season-long loan] the first time for me. I’ve never done it before.
“It’ll be interesting. Like I said I’ve still got a couple of years left on my contract at West Brom. I will be going back there but we’ll see how things pan out. It’ll depend on the situation.
“I’ll have a conversation with the manager and my representatives and see what the best outcome is for me because ultimately it’s about my career.”
Karlan Grant could leave West Brom for good this summer
An early return from his loan spell was mooted ahead of the January transfer window as Corberan admitted it would be impossible to close the door on a return, leaving the opportunity open for him to make his return to Albion.
However, an early termination of his loan deal was never on the cards. The boss’ comments, though, remain relevant heading into the summer transfer window, as it remains possible Grant could stay at the club next season.
With just five goals scored in 34 matches on loan at Cardiff, Grant doesn’t exactly look like the answer to Albion’s striker problems, particularly given the options already at the club in Josh Maja and Brandon Thomas-Asante – with the former now returning from injury.

Where Grant’s long-term future lies will be a decision to make in the summer both for the player and the club, with all options remaining open as both parties will search for the best outcome for his future.
