West Brom blame Sheffield Wednesday as ticket delay emerges for Championship clash
West Brom have blamed Sheffield Wednesday after an away ticket delay emerged for the Baggies’ Championship showdown at Hillsborough.
Carlos Corberan’s side are due to make the trip to Sheffield on Saturday 27 April as they look to secure their place in the playoff places this term, while the Owls look to avoid the drop into the League One in the relegation fight.
However, tickets are yet to go on sale for the Championship clash and in an official statement, the Baggies have blamed Wednesday for the “hold-up” with no date set for when fans will be able to secure their seats.
Writing on the West Brom website on Sunday (31 March) they said: “The sale of tickets will be delayed for Albion’s Sky Bet Championship trip to Sheffield Wednesday. This is owing to a hold-up at the host club, who Carlos Corberán’s team are due to visit on Saturday, April 27.
“Details and a new set of dates will be confirmed at the earliest available opportunity.”
Will West Brom and Carlos Corberan finish in the Championship playoff places this season?
There is still plenty to play for between now and the end of the season and Albion supporters will be desperate to secure their seats at Hillsborough as it could be when the Baggies book their place in the top six.
Most supporters had written off Corberan’s side before a ball had been kicked this term, but despite plenty of off-the-pitch drama, Albion have shone under the Spanish manager and promotion is a genuine possibility.

Some excellent January recruitment has given West Brom a lift at the perfect time to help them for the final weeks of the season. Now they just need to get over the line and book their place in the playoff places.
Hopefully, whatever issues Wednesday are having will be resolved sooner rather than later to ensure fans can get to their final away day of the regular season, before Corberan’s side take on Preston at The Hawthorns on the final day.
