West Brom: Shilen Patel sends ‘frustrating’ new Baggies message after showdown v Watford
West Brom chairman Shilen Patel has sent a “frustrating” new message to supporters following the Baggies’ Championship draw with Watford.
Carlos Corberan’s side picked up another valuable point in the race for the playoffs on Monday (1 April) as second-half goals from Brandon Thomas-Asante and Darnell Furlong helped Albion complete an important comeback.
The Baggies extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to eight games and while Patel was frustrated by the display he was quick to praise West Brom’s “resilience” to salvage a vital point.
Writing on X on Tuesday (2 April) he said: “The Championship requires more than talent…it demands persistence, toughness, and resilience.
“Pretty frustrating afternoon, but we never gave up and found a way to salvage a point and keep the unbeaten streak going.”
Will West Brom win promotion to the Championship with Carlos Corberan and Shilen Patel?
West Brom will have been frustrated to not have picked up all three points against the Hornets on Monday, but at this stage of the season, every point is crucial and could potentially define the remainder of the campaign.
The Baggies were nowhere near their best, but they found a way to get a result and that speaks volumes about the mentality in The Hawthorns dressing room. Corberan’s side have a special mentality across their entire group.
That sort of steeliness across the team will make the Baggies a force to be reckoned with if they manage to qualify for the playoffs this term. There won’t be many teams in England’s second tier that will be excited to face Corberan’s side.
Hopefully, they can get their first win this side of the international break when they face Stoke City on Saturday (8 April) and book their place in the top six. If they do, you wouldn’t bet against them going all the way.
