West Brom: Karlan Grant expected to quit The Hawthorns this summer after Carlos Corberan verdict
Carlton Palmer has tipped Karlan Grant to leave West Brom again when he returns on loan from Cardiff this summer, with another move on the cards.
Palmer claimed that Carlos Corberan was not a fan of the striker, evidenced by sending him on loan to begin with after falling out of favour at The Hawthorns.
It was also explained that his wages remain at Premier League standard, meaning Albion will have to get them off the books one way or another, with a loan more likely than a permanent deal.
Speaking to Football League World [3 April], Palmer shared: “He’s fallen out of favour at West Brom, so the question is whether West Brom take him back and see him as part of their future.
“He’s struggled a little bit, he’s obviously a talented player and maybe now West Brom are kicking on Karlan might do well for them. I think part of the move to move Karlan on was his wages, so we’ll have to see how that transpires.
“It’s obvious Carlos didn’t fancy him and that’s why he let him out on loan, so we’ll have to see how that transpires.
“He’s got two years left on his contract and he’s on Premier League wages, so it’s not going to be easy, so I think the likelihood will be that Karlan is allowed to go out on a season-long loan again next season.”
Karlan Grant expected to leave West Brom this summer
This comes just days after the striker claimed he would sit down with the boss to discuss his long-term future and whether it is at West Brom, although he hinted that a move away from the club was the most likely possibility.
An early return from his loan spell was mooted ahead of the January transfer window as Corberan admitted it would be impossible to close the door on a return, leaving the opportunity open for him to make his return to Albion.
With just five goals scored in 34 matches on loan at Cardiff, Grant doesn’t exactly look like the answer to Albion’s striker problems, particularly given the options already at the club in Josh Maja and Brandon Thomas-Asante.

The latest financial news emerging from The Hawthorns suggests that the priority will be to get Grant’s wages off the books – whether that is through a permanent transfer or a loan will be the topic of discussion upon his return.
