West Brom Women: Siobhan Hodgetts-Still sends Jess Reaville message after win v Fylde

Siobhan Hodgetts-Still has told centre-back Jess Reaville she was “excellent” after scoring the last-gasp winner in the 1-0 victory against Fylde.

Albion were the better side over the course of the game but it looked like they would be frustrated again until Reaville popped up with the winner with the last kick of the game.

The boss insisted that the defender deserved her goal after missing a couple of chances in recent weeks and after an impressive defensive performance in the 1-0 win.

Speaking to the official West Brom website [3 April], Hodgetts-Still shared: “Jess deserves it. She’s had a couple of chances to score in recent games and I’m glad she’s got one today.

“I thought we defended well. I don’t think Fylde caused us many problems. I can only think of a couple of opportunities they had in the second period. I thought Jess and Lucy were excellent defensively and I’m pleased Jess got the winner.”

West Brom women continue their strong form

The winner which came in the dying seconds ensured Albion would take all three points for the third time in the last four games, with the 2-0 defeat to Wolves the only exception to victories against Halifax and Stourbridge before beating Fylde.

With that victory, Hodgetts-Still’s side moved up to fifth in the table, leapfrogging Stoke City and Derby County in the process, although they have played more games than any other side in the league, causing confusion over their true position.

With just two games left to play in their league season, Albion can be proud of what they have managed to achieve so far, and will have their fingers crossed that results elsewhere go their way to retain their impressive league standing.

West Brom Women’s next game comes against Stoke City, and a win in that game would see them establish their lead over the Potters in the league table as the games begin to level in the coming weeks.
