West Brom want to sign Villarreal winger Javi Ontiveros on free transfer
West Brom want to sign Villarreal winger Javi Ontiveros on a free transfer this summer after it was confirmed he would be leaving the La Liga club, according to Relevo.
Writing on their website (4 April), the Spanish news outlet report that the Yellow Submarine wanted to keep the 25-year-old midfielder at the club and offered him a new deal but he has opted to try a new experience instead.
The Baggies are among the interested parties and Ontiveros is keen on a move to England, and has made the decision to choose his next club this month.
West Brom need to strengthen the attack
Carlos Corberan has become a master of the transfer market since coming to The Hawthorns because of the lack of funds and squad restrictions he has had to deal with.
The January window that just passed saw the club bring in three attackers in Mikey Johnston, Callum Marshall and Andreas Weimann but two of those were on loan.
That means they're likely to head back to their parent clubs in the summer and Corberan will be light on options once again, so Ontiveros could be a fantastic replacement to bring in on a budget.
Coventry are also interested, and promotion to the Premier League would obviously improve the club's chances of bringing him in ahead of the competition.
But it could also see the club change direction with the added finances and a new line of targets lined up, but there won't be long to wait if he intends on putting pen to paper on a deal this month.
In other West Brom news, Shilen Patel must hand one ace a new deal to keep Corberan happy.
