Carlos Corberan hails Shilen Patel as West Brom issue ‘fixed’ already by new chairman
Carlos Corberan has lauded Shilen Patel for adding “financial stability” at The Hawthorns, allowing his West Brom players to focus on the on-pitch performances.
Patel purchased a majority stake in the club earlier this year to bring an end to Guochuan Lai’s torrid reign, much to the excitement of Baggies fans everywhere.
The new American owner has already become very hands-on with West Brom, appearing at multiple games, home and away, while helping secure the club’s financial future.
Speaking to the Express and Star on Tuesday (9 April), Corberan said: “There is a big difference right now and that is the financial stability of the club, this is a good thing. We knew the financially challenging situation with the new owner and with the new owner that is fixed.
“The good thing in the previous time before this happened was that we had people working to find solutions in this short period of time. That helped me and the players to be as fully focused on the important things in competing and focusing on our jobs”
Shilen Patel feeling the love at West Brom
Patel is already feeling the love, having become instantly involved with the club, the fans, and the team at The Hawthorns. He is certainly hands-on and fans appreciate that.
Although the new owner has yet to witness a victory in the flesh, it is clear that Patel is excited about the project being built at West Brom, which Corberan is currently leading.
With the financial situation at The Hawthorns seemingly “fixed” after the purchase of the club by Patel, it is extremely exciting to see where West Brom can go from here, especially this season.

Corberan has already done a brilliant job of leading his team into the Championship playoff spots with a limited squad and budget, and if they can gain promotion to the Premier League, West Brom will be able to invest to remain in the top division.
Claiming promotion to the Premier League would certainly be the ultimate goal this season, but whatever happens, it is clear that fans believe in the project currently being built at The Hawthorns.
