Shilen Patel reacts to West Brom defeat against Leicester City at King Power Stadium
Shilen Patel has reacted on social media after West Brom were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on 20 April.
The Foxes went 2-0 up through goals from Wilfried Ndidi and Jamie Vardy before Jed Wallace pulled one back – but to no avail.
Patel was not downbeat about the result, however, crediting the team’s performance against a strong side.
He posted on X: “The result wasn’t there but strong play in a big test.”
West Brom give a good account of themselves against Leicester City
West Brom have every right to feel aggrieved after leaving the King Power Stadium with nothing following a creditable performance against Championship title-chasing Leicester.
The Baggies recorded 53 per cent possession away against the Foxes and even generated a slightly higher xG tally of 2.57 to the hosts’ 2.52, taking more shots (18 to 11) and hitting the target with more efforts, too (six to three) [FotMob].
However, the difference was simply that Leicester were more ruthless and their visitors more wasteful. The Foxes created five big chances and scored two, while the Baggies only carved out two and their one miss proved costly.
If West Brom can produce performances of that calibre in attack in their final two games of the season against 23rd-placed Sheffield Wednesday and 10th-placed Preston North End, they are likely to come away with far more positive results than they managed against Leicester.
