Tom Fellows misses West Brom training as fitness worry emerges v Sheffield Wednesday
Tom Fellows has missed West Brom training this week due to a groin complaint and is a doubt for the match against Sheffield Wednesday on 27 April.
The winger is thought to have felt discomfort before the 2-1 defeat against Leicester City on 20 April in which he was introduced as a late substitute, which appears to have aggravated the issue.
However, head coach Carlos Corberan seemed hopeful about the possibility of the 20-year-old shaking off the problem ahead of the Baggies’ crunch clash with the Owls.
Birmingham Live reported the West Brom boss as saying: “It’s true that Fellows didn’t train during this week, but we have days to work because he was feeling something in the groin during the game [against Leicester]. Before the game, he felt it a little bit and it increased with [his involvement as a substitute]. He has been managing it. It’s not an injury, but he’s been managing it with the medical staff.
“Let’s see how he progresses, but I think he will normally be fine, but he couldn’t make the normal days of the other players.
“I can tell you that he is the only player who has been working differently this week. Still, we are in the middle of the preparations, but everyone [else] has been fine.”
West Brom will miss Tom Fellows – but have the resources to cope without
Fellows, 20, is enjoying his breakthrough season with West Brom after gaining valuable experience on loan at League Two Crawley Town last term.
The young winger has grown in stature since the turn of the year, recording all seven of his Championship goal involvements – four goals and three assists – in 2024.

However, Corberan does have quality alternatives at his disposal. Both Jed Wallace and Grady Diangana started against Leicester but, with Brandon Thomas-Asante returning from suspension, either could play on the right – or the latter could reprise his recent role behind the centre-forward, with Mikey Johnston on the left.
That quartet have netted 31 Championship goals between them – Thomas-Asante is the side’s top scorer on 11, Diangana and Johnston both have seven and club captain Wallace has six.
That firepower should ensure that the Baggies clinch what would be an important victory in their pursuit of a mathematically secure play-off place.
In other West Brom news, Corberan has dropped a ‘special’ verdict on Josh Maja.
