Don Goodman shares Daryl Dike worry as he continues recovery at West Brom
Don Goodman says it is concerning for West Brom whether Daryl Dike will ever be able to regain full fitness and return to his form of old.
Dike’s time at The Hawthorns has been beset by injuries, having spent two lengthy spells on the sidelines since arriving in January 2022.
The United States international’s latest setback will likely see him miss the remainder of 2024, leaving Albion particularly light in attack.
Speaking to West Brom News about the club’s lack of forwards, Goodman said: “This is an area where they have been desperately unlucky with Daryl Dike’s injury.
“You do worry about whether Dike can ever get back to full fitness and be the player he was at Barnsley.
“Josh Maja has also been unlucky with injuries and we don’t truly know his potential, while Brandon Thomas-Asante has done okay this season.”
When is Daryl Dike likely to return for West Brom?
Albion announced in February that Dike is not expected to feature again until the end of the year as a result of rupturing the Achilles in his left leg.
That is opposite to the one he damaged last year, which also saw him spend just short of a year on the sidelines recovering.
Dike also missed the business end of his first season at the club with a hamstring injury, meaning three separate spells in the treatment room already.

Should Dike not play again before the end of the year, that will mean he would have played just 29 league games for Albion in three years.
The unfortunate truth is that Carlos Corberan will need to bring in cover for – and potentially an upgrade on – Brandon Thomas-Asante.
There is hope that Dike could yet find the form he showed at Barnsley, but his latest road to recovery is still in its early stages.
