Sheffield Wednesday v West Brom scoreline predicted by David Prutton

David Prutton has predicted that West Brom will be on the end of a narrow defeat in this weekend’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

The Baggies were on the end of an unfortunate 2-1 loss at Leicester City last weekend and have won just one of their past six games.

Wednesday were 3-1 winners away at Blackburn Rovers, meanwhile, in a result that saw them climb out of the relegation zone.

Sharing his prediction for the Sky Sports Championship Predictions podcast [25 April, 14m 06s], Prutton said: “I have been in a similar position with Wednesday when there was a big crowd at Hillsborough and that was a massive part of us beating Boro on the final day to secure safety.

“This feels similar. They had a huge result last weekend – massive – to move out of the bottom three. That’s something that needs to be built on.

“West Brom were unlucky against Leicester – my god. Hamza Choudhury was doing some impenetrable defending like N’Golo Kante.

“I just think momentum, confidence and the overriding emotion of what Wednesday have done over the past week carries them over the line. I’m going to go Wednesday to win 1-0.”

West Brom still not assured of play-off spot

Wednesday have spent the vast majority of the season in the bottom three and looked dead and buried at one stage.

Thanks to the impressive work of the previously unknown – to most, at least – Danny Rohl, they have dragged themselves into 21st place.

A victory this weekend would likely be enough to keep them in the division, while Albion need the three points for entirely different reasons.

The Baggies have been fifth for more than half of the season, despite this recent wobble of sorts, yet they are still not assured of a play-off spot.

Missing out on the top six entirely would be a cruel blow, but one win from these final two games is likely required.

With Preston North End to come on the final day, let’s hope Albion can get the job done at Hillsborough with a week to spare.
