West Brom legend Tony Brown has lauded the performances of Cedric Kipre this season, after the defender was named the club's Player of the Season for 2023-24.

The Ivorian has hugely impressed for Albion during his 43 matches this campaign, keeping 13 clean sheets [Sofascore], as the club look to seal their place in the Championship play-offs against Preston North End.

Speaking on BBC Radio WM during the first half of Albion's clash against Preston on Saturday (4 May, 12:34pm), Brown said: "It's fully deserved, he's been brilliant all season.

"He's been awesome at the back, hasn't he? An absolute rock."

It was then mentioned that Kipre is out of contract at The Hawthorns this summer - and the club are thought to be offering the Ivorian a bumper new deal after this season's performances.

But it's expected that Kipre will attract considerable interest from rivals, who will be circling the defender for a potential free transfer.

Will Cedric Kipre stay at West Bromwich Albion?

Kipre has led a defensive line this season that has been a third-best in the Championship for goals conceded.

The 27-year-old told BBC Sport back in February that he believes his fine form has resulted from continued momentum out of last year's loan at Cardiff City.

He did also note that he hopes it will carry on after the summer, and Baggies fans will be hoping he is hinting at an extension with Carlos Corberan's side.

Kipre has appeared to be playing the best football of his career in a West Brom shirt, and one would wonder where the team would have been without him - certainly not in the top six.

It's clear he isn't short of suitors, but Kipre looks settled, happy and it's showing in his flourishing football.

At 27, the contract Kipre signs in the coming weeks is likely to be the career-defining one, wherever it is.
