West Brom announce done deal as local goalkeeper agrees terms at The Hawthorns
Ben Cisse has signed his first professional contract at West Brom, it has been confirmed.
Albion announced via their official website on Thursday (9 May) that the 18-year-old goalkeeper has agreed a two-year contract that will keep him at The Hawthorns until June 2026.
Cisse, who grew up in West Bromwich, has represented England youth teams at four levels up to the Under-19s and has featured seven times in Premier League 2 for Albion’s Under-21s this season.
Will Ben Cisse break into West Brom senior squad?
As long as Cisse continues to impress at youth level and maybe goes out on loan and gets some good first-team experience elsewhere, there’s no reason why he cannot start to feature for West Brom’s first team at some point during the length of this new contract he’s signed.
He’s clearly one of the best young goalkeepers in English football based on the way he’s risen through the ranks of the Young Lions.
West Brom have made a habit out of producing good goalkeepers in their academy too. All three first-team goalkeepers this season – Alex Palmer, Josh Griffiths and Ted Cann – are products of West Brom’s youth system so they’re no doubt great role models for Cisse to try and follow in the footsteps of.

And while Palmer may be from Kidderminster, Griffiths from Hereford and Cann from Leamington Spa, Cisse grew up just down the road from B71 in West Bromwich.
West Brom’s official announcement of the 18-year-old’s new contract says that he “lived and breathed all things Albion” as he grew up, which is really great to see.
Cisse is truly one of our own and we hope that in the coming years, we get to see him break through into the senior side and achieve what is no doubt a lifelong dream to play for West Bromwich Albion.
In other West Brom news, Carlos Corberan could axe this star player from his line-up to take on Southampton on Sunday.
