Sky Sports pundit blown away by what ‘magnificent’ Tom Fellows did for West Brom v Southampton

West Brom winger Tom Fellows has blown Andy Hinchcliffe away with a “magnificent” moment in Albion’s goalless playoff clash with Southampton.

Carlos Corberan’s Baggies impressed in the first leg of their clash with the Saints at The Hawthorns on Sunday (12 May) but were unable to make their dominance count as they drew 0-0 leaving the tie in the balance.

Albion did have opportunities to break the deadlock, the best of which fell to Grady Diangana in the first half after Fellows found the winger alone in the penalty area with an excellent across that impressed Sky Sports pundit Hinchcliffe.

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event (12 May, 14:50) he said: “It’s magnificent wing play, genuine wing play from Tom Fellows. A winger up against a wing-back a left wing-back and he just moves the ball ever so slightly but the type of cross he puts in is brilliant.

“He decides how he wants to cross, he doesn’t just cross it in and hope. He stands that ball up and Diangana does well to get to it.”

Will West Brom be able to keep Tom Fellows during the summer transfer window?

While the likes of Mikey Johnston and Diangana have received the majority of the plaudits for their attacking displays this season, few players have been as exciting to watch in an Albion shirt this term as Fellows.

The 20-year-old has seemingly come from nowhere to be one of Corberan’s most important players at The Hawthorns and that was demonstrated by the decision to start him ahead of club captain Jed Wallace on Sunday.

Those performances won’t have gone unnoticed by teams higher up the English footballing pyramid and it wouldn’t be a surprise if clubs pushed to try and sign the winger when the transfer window opens this summer.

Hopefully, Albion will be able to keep the English youth International having recently tied him down to a new contract. With Johnston’s future beyond the summer unclear, Corberan could build his attack around Fellows.
