Okay Yokuslu transfer meeting planned with West Brom exit on the cards
Turkish giants Trabzonspor want to sign West Brom star Okay Yokuslu this summer, according to Sports Digitale.
Writing on their official X account (27 May), the Turkish news outlet report that the Istanbul club held meetings with the central midfielder last summer and in January about signing him.
However a deal didn’t materialise but they are ready to try again following the Baggies’ failure to earn promotion to the Premier League, according to Sports Digitale journalist Hasan Tuncel.
“Trabzonspor is planning to have another meeting with Okay Yokuşlu, with whom they met at the beginning of the season and during the half-time (January),” they wrote.
West Brom face huge blow if they lose Okay Yokuslu
The summer at The Hawthorns is looking like it could be very interesting after another failed attempt at returning to the Premier League.
Shilen Patel’s takeover means that financially the club is in a much better position than they have been in recent years, but the squad is at a point now where changes need to be made and that could see players leave.
Darnell Furlong has been linked with a move away from the club as he enters the final 12 months of his deal [Alan Nixon], but only because manager Carlos Corberan is open to letting him go.
Financially the club are able to take the white and keep players around now if the manager wants to keep them around, and Okay is surely someone that falls into that category.
But he is now 30 years old and in the final 12 months of his deal too, so a good offer could convince the club to let him leave. It would be a huge task to replace his quality in midfield, but Corberan has earned the trust of the board and fans to be given the opportunity to do so in the market.
In other West Brom news, Leicester eye Carlos Corberan if Enzo Marseca joins Chelsea.
