West Brom decide on first-team sales ahead of first Shilen Patel transfer window at The Hawthorns
West Brom are open to selling first-team players this summer for the right money but are not under pressure to raise funds, according to Express and Star.
Writing on their website (27 May), the newspaper report that the club’s financial position is stronger than in recent windows following Shilen Patel’s takeover in February.
However the club are likely to generate cash through first-team sales, with Darnell Furlong’s exit mooted in a £2million deal [Alan Nixon], and only players who Carlos Corberan is open to selling will be allowed to depart.
West Brom squad set for changes this summer
The last few years at The Hawthorns have been really difficult for the club to navigate because of all the financial troubles, but that’s no longer an issue.
Patel has come in and wiped the debt of the club, and seems to have every intention of backing the manager in the transfer window to earn promotion back to the Premier League.
But while he wants to add players into the squad, there are also players who could be moved on to raise cash and also players who will be hard to replace but it’s the best opportunity to cash in on them.

That’s the situation the club find themselves in with Furlong in particular, with the right-back having just 12 months of his deal at the club remaining and being 28-years-old.
Replacing him this summer and signing a younger alternative that Corberan wants could be a big boost to their promotion hopes for the 2024/25 season.
