Mo Faal is running out of time to make his mark at West Brom – it may be now or never
Mo Faal could be running out of time to make his mark on the West Brom first team.
The striker is now 21 years of age and has just one year remaining on his contract, making this summer a pivotal moment in his budding career.
Faal will be hoping to convince head coach Carlos Corberan of his qualities and secure a future at The Hawthorns as the Baggies’ squad undergoes major surgery.
Mo Faal must convince Carlos Corberan that his future lies at West Brom
Faal has enjoyed several productive loan spells in his short career thus far.
For a 21-year-old, he has more senior experience than most, having made first-team appearances for six clubs, including West Brom.
He hardly featured in his first two temporary moves to sixth-tier sides Hereford and Telford United, but hit 10 goals and recorded two assists in just 16 outings at the same level with AFC Fylde in 2022/23.
Last season, he split his time between League Two outfits Doncaster Rovers and Walsall, scoring seven goals in 25 fourth-tier outings for the former and six times in 20 league appearances for the latter – a tally which takes him inside the division’s top 20 goalscorers for the campaign.

However, there is a gap in quality to bridge between the fourth tier and the Championship and Corberan must decide if he feels the youngster can make that step up – either in 2024/25 or after another loan spell, perhaps at a League One or Championship side.
If Corberan is not convinced, it is probable that – with just one year remaining on Faal’s contract – the Baggies will look to generate a fee for their young talent.
It may be now or never for Faal’s West Brom future.
In other West Brom news, Carlton Palmer feels the Baggies would suffer a “massive blow” if they sell Darnell Furlong for £2million.
