Carlos Corberan thrilled as Shilen Patel makes big-money West Brom investment
Shilen Patel has invested almost £1million to upgrade the training ground at West Brom, according to Lewis Cox.
Writing via the Express and Star (4 June), Cox revealed that pitch one at the Walsall-based training ground is undergoing significant work.
The aim is to bring it in line with that of The Hawthorns’ surface.
Corberan is thought to be pleased at the prospect of having another elite pitch to conduct training sessions on.
Investments into infrastructure and facilities do not come under PSR regulations.
West Brom supporters will be delighted by Carlos Corberan and Shilen Patel update
After the Baggies’ failed promotion bid, plenty of supporters would have been fearing the worst.
Corberan has been a big part of the club’s recent successes, and everyone at The Hawthorns will be desperate to keep hold of him.
However, recent reports have suggested that won’t be a straightforward task.
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported via X (4 June) that Corberan is keen on joining Leicester City.
It is no surprise that Corberan would be tempted by a switch to the Premier League.
But if Patel wants his new club to be successful next season, he must do everything he can to keep hold of his manager.
And it appears as if he is doing just that.
This investment marks a real statement of intent and sends a clear message to Corberan.
And suggestions that the manager is excited by the work imply that he would be happy to stay put.
