West Brom set for £40m+ cash boost as The Hawthorns financial estimation emerges

West Brom are set to generate between £40-50million in the 2024/25 season after failing to reach the Premier League, according to Dan Plumley.

The Baggies crashed out of the playoffs following a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Southampton, meaning they will now enter a fourth consecutive season in the second tier.

But after missing out on a major windfall for getting back to the top flight, football finance expert Plumley believes the club are expected to receive a much lower amount than in recent years as they will no longer receive parachute payments.

“There are still a lot of unknowns because of the situations with the TV deals but what we do know, if you look at West Brom, you’re probably looking at them coming in at somewhere between £40-50million revenue for the next season,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“There’s no parachute payments now for that club so you have to take that into account, that’s gone. But they do have significant amount of match-day income still. They’re well supported, so that factors in well.

It kind of then, the things that you’re taking an educated guess at linked to the TV deal, we’re into a new TV deal for the EFL anyway for this season, with a new package for Sky Sports, that’s worth 50 per cent more than it was before, so clubs will get an uplift anyway.

“Any potential deal that comes down from the Premier League as well, we’ve seen proposals that would add in the region of £3-4m on for your average Championship club. They’re the unknowns at the minute, we’ve not seen the absolute numbers from the Premier League deal, we know what they get from the existing EFL deal, so [these are] conservative estimates for West Brom.

“Somewhere in the region of £40-50m revenue I think, given no more parachute payments but given an uplift in EFL TV deal money and maybe more to come from the Premier League in the future.

West Brom could be set for sales to generate cash

Grady Diangana and Darnell Furlong have been linked with an exit from The Hawthorns this summer [Alan Nixon, 26 May] and that could be a way to raise money that can be reinvested to help bolster the squad.

For once West Brom fans don’t have to be too worried about the financial status of the club, and the main concern now is how they build a squad that can get back to the top flight.

In other West Brom news, Burnley want to appoint Carlos Corberan after Vincent Kompany’s move to Bayern Munich.
