West Brom given major Carlos Corberan boost after Leicester City manager search update

Steve Cooper has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Enzo Maresca as Leicester City head coach in a boost to the chances of West Brom retaining Carlos Corberan, according to talkSPORT.

The report on 6 June states that Corberan had previously been the frontrunner for the position, but his compensation package is a potential “stumbling block”.

Cooper now appears most likely to take the job, increasing the likelihood that Corberan will remain at the Hawthorns.

Will Carlos Corberan stay at West Brom this summer?

If Leicester do indeed hire former Nottingham Forest and Swansea City head coach Cooper, it does appear likely that Corberan will stay put at West Brom.

The Baggies boss seems focused on overhauling the squad and preparing to go one better in the club’s promotion push in 2024/25.

Barring an approach from the blue from another well-placed club – which has not been widely mooted – there is little reason to believe the Spaniard will move on.

Carlos Corberan looks set to remain with West Brom.

That will be a real boost for the Baggies, with Corberan due a great deal of credit for taking the club to the playoffs last season.

West Brom’s released list saw the departures of six first-team players confirmed, while the futures of many others remain up in the air.

There will be plenty of hope that – with a rejuvenated squad – the 44-year-old will be able to mastermind a Premier League promotion-winning season next term.

In other West Brom news, Mo Faal is running out of time to make his mark at the Hawthorns – it may be now or never.
