West Brom ace Semi Ajayi sends message to Carlos Corberan after what happened on Friday
Semi Ajayi has sent a message to West Brom boss Carlos Corberan back at The Hawthorns.
Ajayi hardly featured for the Baggies last season.
The centre-back started just 10 matches in the Championship and made 26 appearances overall. He will want to play more frequently next season and is already demonstrating his credentials to Corberan.
There is likely to be plenty of changes at The Hawthorns this summer, which means the West Brom boss might have to call upon Ajayi more frequently.
But based on his display for Nigeria on Friday (7 June), that shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
Semi Ajayi could make a bigger impact for Carlos Corberan at West Brom next season
The Super Eagles battled to a 1-1 draw with South Africa in their 2026 World Cup Qualifier.
While it wasn’t a flawless defensive display – perhaps due to a lack of match sharpness – Ajayi certainly showed enough to demonstrate he can play a part next season.
As per Sofascore, although the 30-year-old was dribbled past twice, he also made two tackles, two interceptions and three clearances.
In addition, he won three of his five ground duels, more than half.
Furthermore, he showed plenty of quality on the ball, completing 95 per cent of his passes and providing five accurate long balls forward from seven attempts.

Nigeria have struggled in qualifying so far, drawing their last three games, leaving them fifth in Group C.
Ajayi will hope to continue building on his performance to get his nation back on track and showcase to Corberan that he is ready for the 2024/25 campaign.
