West Brom in season ticket boost for new season after takeover confirmed
Dan Plumley has insisted that increased season ticket sales at West Brom show the positive mood at The Hawthorns ahead of the new season.
The club announced that fans have purchased almost double the amount of season tickets on the opening day of sales since last year, with their biggest opening day in a decade [Joe Chapman, 30 May].
When asked what it shows about the position of the club following Shilen Patel’s takeover, football finance expert Plumley admitted the uptake in revenue is a boost for the club.
“It shows the mood in the camp doesn’t it, and we’ve spoken about this a lot with West Brom,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“All the problems they’ve had with the previous ownership and of course, fan bases will remain loyal, but it does impact that fans as well and it does sometimes take a big, significant change sometimes in the ownership structure in West Brom’s case or a promotion and you can change the narrative a little bit.
“It seems to me that those numbers we’re looking at there already if that’s the uptake already in comparison to last year, that does give the club a general indication of the mood of the fan base.
“And if you’re going into a season with a positive fan base, then that’s half the battle.”
West Brom to push for promotion once again in 2024/25
The Baggies have progressed brilliantly in the last two years despite Carlos Corbera being forced to deal with serious issues of ownership above him and financial constraints.
West Brom missed out on the playoffs in the 2022/23 season and then made it into the top six quite comfortably in the end during the 2023/24 season, although they were beaten by eventual winners Southampton in the semi-finals.
But the progress shown on the pitch has proven to fans that there is a path to the Premier League and the club is working towards it, which has boosted the fans’ hopes of success.

Patel has got big plans for the club, and Corberan wants to keep the players together and push again this season and the support of the fans will be key to getting the job done.
It’s great to see that everyone is on the same page and pushing towards the same goal in the same direction, and now The Hawthorns will be rocking even more to help them achieve their goals.
