West Brom resigned to Cedric Kipre exit amid Ipswich Town transfer development

Ipswich Town want to sign West Brom star Cedric Kipre on a free transfer with an exit from The Hawthorns expected, according to Express and Star.

Writing on their website (21 June), the news outlet report that the Baggies are now “resigned” to losing the 27-year-old despite offering him a new contract [WBA, 22 May].

The terms offered were the “best the club’s wage structure could manage” but the Ivorian is expected to move on amid interest from the Premier League club as well as teams in the French league and Trabzonspor in Turkey.

West Brom dealt huge blow with Cedric Kipre to leave The Hawthorns

It’s not news that will take anyone by surprise, but West Brom are being dealt a huge blow by losing Kipre this summer.

Twelve months ago nobody expected him to be at the club for the 2023/24 season after a loan spell at Cardiff, but he came back into Carlos Corberan’s team and immediately made himself a key player in the centre of defence.

The club have made an effort to keep him by offering him terms for a new long-term stay, but it seems highly unlikely that he will stick around with interest from clubs in the top flight.

West Brom may have the tough task of replacing Cedric Kipre this summer

Corberan has always been one of the best around when it comes to building the squad and working with what he has available to him but replacing Kipre will be very difficult.

New defenders are likely to come in now, and someone will need to come in and make an immediate impact to fill the void left so Corberan can continue to push the club towards promotion.
