West Brom ready Mikey Johnston transfer with Celtic exit lined up

West Brom want to welcome Mikey Johnston back to The Hawthorns from Celtic this summer, according to The Sun.

It is said to be rumoured that the Republic of Ireland international will be leaving Parkhead once again over the summer transfer window.

The winger impressed during his loan spell at The Hawthorns last season, netting seven goals and providing one assist in just 18 Championship appearances.

Carlos Corberán is somewhat expected to pursue a permanent move for Johnston, while exploring the possibility of another loan deal, amidst his efforts to revamp the squad ahead of the new season.

The 25-year-old has already proven himself after impressing during his loan spell at The Hawthorns, where he contributed heavily in those 18 games.

For The Baggies, securing Johnston would, therefore, improve their attacking options as they attempt to seal promotion to the Premier League in the 2024-25 campaign.

The winger is also somewhat of a safe bet, given his familiarity with the club, and is unlikely to require much time to fit in and acclimatise.

The only thing that could hold the Baggies back is the fee and negotiations with Celtic might turn out to be difficult.

However, Corberán will also know that losing Johnston at the end of his loan was certainly a blow and he will be tough to replace after the form he displayed last campaign.

In other West Brom news, a £1.58billion claim has emerged as Shilen Patel completed the takeover to become the new Baggies chairman.
