West Brom set to complete brand new permanent transfer, medical today
West Brom are set to complete the transfer of Torbjorn Heggem from IF Brommapojkarna, according to The Athletic.
Writing on their live blog (25 June), the news outlet report that the club have agreed a deal for the 25-year-old Norwegian defender who can play at left-back and centre-back.
A deal is so advanced that he will undergo a medical on Tuesday (25 June) ahead of putting pen to paper on a contract, where he will compete with Connor Townsend and defensive options in middle for Carlos Corberan’s side.
West Brom to seal permanent transfer for Torbjorn Heggem
Anyone who claims to know much about Heggem will surely be telling a little white lie, but if Corberan is convinced by him then the fans should back the deal.
Stepping up from the Swedish top flight to the Championship will undoubtedly be a big task for the 25-year-old, but Corberan has always had a good eye for talent and will know if he has the attributes he wants for his squad.
With Cedric Kipre looking destined to leave this summer [Express and Star, 22 June], and the club open to offers for Darnell Furlong and other first-team stars [Express and Star, 28 May], reinforcements are definitely needed.
Heggem can also play left-back and with Adam Reach leaving at the end of his contract he can compete with Townsend for a first-team spot. The Baggies are finally making their moves early in the window, and preparations for the new season are underway.
In other West Brom news, the club are resigned to losing a star man who wants a Premier League move.
