Carlos Corberan update as emphatic decision made over West Brom boss move to Burnley
West Brom manager Carlos Corberan has now been ruled out of the running to become the next Burnley boss, according to The Sun.
In their Wednesday edition (26 June, page 46), the newspaper has suggested that Craig Bellamy is going to take charge of the start of the Clarets’ pre-season.
After being snubbed by Ruud van Nistelrooy, it is understood that Frank Lampard and Baggies boss Corberan “have been ruled out” of contention to replace Vincent Kompany too.
West Brom handed boost in Carlos Corberan Burnley pursuit
Corberan has been of interest to the likes of Leicester City and Burnley since the end of the season [Guardian], leading fans understandably getting nervous about the future of their boss.
The Spaniard had been approached by the newly relegated Clarets [Sacha Tavolieri] and was among the names being considered to replace Kompany.
It has to be said that it isn’t a surprise that he has been linked with a move away after the job that he has done at The Hawthorns.
Although the Baggies weren’t promoted to the Premier League, reaching the play-offs was certainly an achievement.
This is only made better when you consider that he didn’t make any permanent signings with a transfer fee involved across the season.

Managing to keep hold of Corberan this summer could prove to be the best business that West Brom can do before the new 2024/25 season starts.
The ex-Huddersfield boss may need some assurances to ensure he stays put if any other interest crops up and that would be fair given the interest in him and how well he’s done at The Hawthorns.
Next season could prove to be another positive one if the Baggies can keep hold of their manager beyond the transfer window.
In other West Brom news, the club are resigned to losing a star man who wants a Premier League move.
