Carlos Corberan will be delighted after Okay Yokuşlu development away from West Brom
Carlos Corberan would have been thrilled to see West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuşlu get some minutes at the 2024 UEFA European Championship.
Yokuşlu is flying the flag for the Baggies at the Euros, and he recently got his first minutes at the tournament.
Having watched on from the bench for Turkiye’s opening two matches, the 30-year-old stepped onto the pitch for his nation’s third and final group-stage match.
And his contribution wasn’t minimal either, with the West Brom ace entering the fray in the 63rd minute as Tyrkiye beat the Czech Republic 2-1 on Wednesday (26 June) to qualify for the Round of 16 as group runners-up.
It means Yokuşlu could yet get some more minutes out in Germany, and after his cameo display on Wednesday, there is no reason why he shouldn’t be handed an opportunity against Austria on Tuesday (2 July).

Supporters at The Hawthorns would have been delighted to have one of their own players to cheer on at the Euros.
And Yokuşlu certainly did his club fans proud.
As per Sofascore, the midfielder completed 100 per cent of his passes against the Czech Republic and managed one shot as well.
He was solid defensively as he helped his country reach the knockout stages, winning two of his three ground duels and making one clearance, interception and tackle.
Yokuşlu also won a foul to help alleviate some pressure as Turkiye went on to win the match.
Corberan will hope this experience improves Yokuşlu as a player ahead of next season, while the player will hope this is just the beginning of his Euros journey.
In other West Brom news, there could be plenty of changes to the club’s starting lineup on the first day of the 2024/25 season.
