Josh Windass makes West Brom transfer decision via club statement today
West Brom target Josh Windass has agreed to a contract extension at Sheffield Wednesday, as announced via their official website.
A report from Birmingham World (25 June) suggested that the Baggies were going head-to-head with Birmingham City for the Englishman.
Now it has been confirmed via the Owls’ official website (2 July) that the 30-year-old has signed a new contract to extend his stay at Hillsborough.
This has seen Windass reject any advances from Albion or the Blues in favour of at least another season with Wednesday.
Josh Windass makes West Brom decision
The Englishman may well have proved to be a useful addition to Carlos Corberan’s squad ahead of the new season on yet another free contract deal.
Windass is certainly a player who divides opinion amongst rival fans but is the sort of player you want on your team.
Despite having an up-and-down few years with Sheffield Wednesday, there is no doubt that the 30-year-old has technical quality.
He has had spells with Rangers and Wigan Athletic, where he has performed well before shining for the Owls over the years.
It is frustrating that the Baggies haven’t been able to land the versatile forward this summer after he made his decision to stay put.

Windass certainly would have had an impact on the squad at The Hawthorns, even if he may not have been a regular starter.
It is frustrating not to sign the Englishman but Corberan will have his eyes on other targets moving further into the transfer window.
In other West Brom news, a contract clause has emerged after another announcement at The Hawthorns.
