West Brom want to seal Oliver Norwood transfer at The Hawthorns

West Brom want to sign midfielder Oliver Norwood on a free transfer this summer but face competition from Sunderland, according to Michael Graham.

Writing on his personal X account (2 July), the journalist, who has written for Sports Illustrated previously, reports that the 33-year-old was recently released by Sheffield United and is now attracting “very serious interest” from the Black Cats.

But they will face “significant competition” from the Baggies and Watford to land him, with Carlos Corberan keen to bolster his squad.

West Brom ready Oliver Norwood transfer

Several first-team players have left the club this season but Corberan needs to strengthen the squad to help the push for promotion back to the Premier League.

The manager allowed Yann M’Vila to leave after six months at The Hawthorns and with Adam Reach and Nathaniel Chalobah also moving on the midfield area is now looking rather short on options.

Norwood is a very experienced midfielder having come through the Manchester United academy and had a career in both the top flight and EFL, but Corberan is great at getting the maximum from his players.

He would add fantastic experience to the side and after already adding Ousmane Diakite to the side and handing Alex Mowatt a new deal, this would likely complete the midfield image for the campaign.

In other West Brom news, the club are resigned to losing a star man who wants a Premier League move.
