Tom Brady reacts as West Brom complete new signing

West Brom Head of Academy Recruitment Tom Brady has reacted on social media after confirming the signing of Mo Diamonde.

The Baggies have announced the Italian-born defender’s arrival on Wednesday (10 July) after he signed a two-year deal at The Hawthorns.

The 18-year-old was released by local rivals Wolves earlier this summer and Brady has moved quickly to snap him up.

The academy recruitment lead has taken to X (10 July) to welcome Diomande to the Albion. He said: “First signing of the 24/25 season. Welcome to West Brom Mo Diamonde.”

The Baggies have already added Torbjorn Heggem to their first team this summer in a rare transfer with a fee spent at the Hawthorns. Malian midfielder Ousmane Diakité has also joined the Albion on a free after he left TSV Hartberg in Austria.

Now the academy side has added Diomande to their side after his release from Wolves was confirmed at the end of June.

It seems clear that the club as a whole is looking to be more active in the transfer market with Shilen Patel taking charge.

Diomande will first link up with Richard Beale’s Under-21 side, hoping to rise to Carlos Corberan’s first team next season.

The Italian-born defender was a fringe player for Wolves’ youth side last campaign where he made eight appearances in the U18 Premier League.

There is a clearer pathway to the Championship matchday squad under Corberan and that will be the 18-year-old’s ambition at The Hawthorns moving forward.

It is exciting to see the Baggies making this kind of signing so early in the transfer window, especially with the future in mind.
