Jed Wallace sends social media message as West Brom exit announced

West Brom captain Jed Wallace has delivered a social media message to Michael Hefele, as he departs the backroom team at The Hawthorns.

Wallace posted on X on Sunday morning [14 July] to bid farewell to Hefele as he leaves the club.

Hefele, who joined the Albion coaching staff under Carlos Corberan in December 2022, has announced his exit from the club to pursue a new challenge overseas.

The Baggies skipper shared a post quoting his social media announcement, reading: “You’ll be missed by us all, mate.

“Good luck with whatever is next.”

West Brom lose Hefele from coaching staff

The 33-year-old clearly struck a chord with the playing squad in the West Midlands, in his first coaching role since retiring as a player at Nottingham Forest in 2021.

An amiable and endearing character, Hefele immediately became a cult hero in English football when he earned promotion in his first season in the country, with Huddersfield Town in 2016-17.

Having retired aged 30 on medical grounds, the German got straight into coaching via the Huddersfield link with Corberan, and proved immensely popular with the Albion squad.

The Spaniard himself is appearing to look “increasingly likely” to remain at The Hawthorns into the 2024-25 season, following a summer of demand with Leicester City and Burnley interested in his services before opting elsewhere with Steve Cooper and Scott Parker respectively.

Whilst it is a blow to lose Hefele in a summer of transition at the club, West Brom certainly cannot afford to lose the main man in the dugout.

In other West Brom news, Corberan may chase a former striker of his from his time at Huddersfield.
