West Brom fans go wild about Claudio Yacob news – ‘Yokuslu replacement’, ‘Oh my god’

West Brom fans are drooling over the prospect of Claudio Yacob potentially returning to the club after he was spotted at their training ground this month.

Yacob, 36, moved to The Hawthorns from Argentina’s Racing Club in 2012 before leaving in 2018. He made 175 total appearances for the Baggies, cementing himself as one of the club’s best defensive midfielders in recent history.

The twice-capped former Argentina international left Albion for a brief spell at Nottingham Forest and most recently played for Peruvian top-tier side Universitario de Deportes. However, he left them back in 2022.

Last Thursday (11 July), Albion uploaded an image of Yacob in the club’s new Macron training gear at their headquarters in Great Barr, leading to speculation about as to why he might be back in the Black Country.

Michael Hefele’s exit as first-team assistant coach was announced a day after Yacob’s appearance at West Brom, which has made some fans think that the tough-tackling midfielder could be set to join up with Carlos Corberan’s backroom team.

However, there are some supporters who also think 36-year-old Yacob could still do a job for them in the midfield, especially with Okay Yokuslu widely linked with a move away [Hull Live].

One Albion fan thinks that Yacob is “incoming”, with another saying he’s going to be Yokuslu’s “replacement”.
