West Brom ready move to sign Cameron Brannagan amid Oxford contract update
West Brom are plotting a move to sign Cameron Brannagan from Oxford United, according to Pete O’Rourke.
The journalist reported, via X, on 15 July that the Baggies and Blackburn Rovers are interested in signing the 28-year-old.
The midfielder is entering the final year of his contract with the U’s after earning promotion to the Championship last season.
West Brom want Cameron Brannagan
Brannagan is a Liverpool academy product and has been one of the standout players in the EFL for many years with Oxford United.
After six years at the Kazam Stadium, it now appears as if a move away to another Championship side could be on the cards.
With a year remaining on his contract, the Englishman could be available on a cut-price deal to the Baggies this summer.
He is a versatile midfield option who is capable of playing in attacking or defensive positions in the centre of the pitch when needed.
The 28-year-old is positive from set-pieces and could prove to be a useful weapon for Carlos Corberan alongside the likes of John Swift.
A need for a new central midfielder may be increased should Okay Yokuslu leave the Hawthorns with Hull City the latest side to show an interest.
Brannagan could prove to be an excellent signing for the Baggies, especially if a cheap fee can be agreed.
