Ousmane Diakite told to do what new West Brom teammate tells him to do – Robertson
Ousmane Diakite has been told to do what fellow West Brom new boy Torbjorn Heggem tells him to do by Ally Robertson.
Robertson met Diakite and his fellow newcomer Heggem during a session for the Football Memories Group, a program for fans with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
The Albion legend advised Diakite to listen to Heggem, telling him, “Now you’ve got to listen to him, he’s the defender!”
Writing for Express and Star on Wednesday (July 17), Robertson said: “I spoke to our Norwegian, Heggem, and I had some specific instructions for him… I said ‘Well you’re the centre-half, you get to tell them what to do!’
“And when the two of them were together I said to Diakite ‘Now you’ve got to listen to him, he’s the defender!’ I told Diakite he has to do as he was told!”
Ousmane Diakite is set to bring a lot of quality to West Brom
Diakite is set to bring a lot of quality to West Brom after signing a two-year deal from TSV Hartberg in Austria. The 23-year-old midfielder from Mali said he is thrilled to join such a big club like the Baggies, fulfilling a dream to play in England.
Diakite’s journey hasn’t always been smooth – he battled knee injuries but bounced back strong, proving himself in Austria and Switzerland.
His athleticism and strong presence on the field will make him a valuable addition to West Brom’s squad.
With experience in top leagues and success with Mali’s U20 squad, Diakite’s skills will help strengthen the Baggies midfield.

Head coach Carlos Corberan also sees him as a key part of the squad, as he hopes that the 23-year-old will contribute defensively and boost their attack in the upcoming season.
Albion fans must be eager to see how Diakite will make his mark and help propel West Brom forward in their Championship campaign ahead.
In other West Brom news, Corberan is a outside bet to seal a major job away from The Hawthorns after a development in the past 24 hours.
