West Brom ready to sell Okay Yokuslu for £2m as approach made

West Brom will stand firm on their valuation of Okay Yokuslu after Hull City confirmed their interest in the midfielder, according to the Express & Star.

Writing on their website (17 July), the newspaper reports that Hull vice-chairman Tan Kesler said they have contacted the Baggies over Yokuslu, though they are still considering alternative targets.

West Brom will not waive from their £2m valuation of the midfielder, who has entered the final year of his deal at the Hawthorns. Trabzonspor are also interested in a move for their former player.

The Turkish international has been with his country at Euro 2024 as his side reached the quarter-finals.

West Brom to stand firm on Yokuslu

It seems inevitable that Yokuslu will leave the Hawthorns this summer, but the club cannot afford to let him go to Championship rivals Hull.

Hull missed out on the play-off spots by three points last season and will be one of the main contenders to the Baggies as Carlos Corberan aims to go one step further this season in a bid for Premier League promotion.

Yokuslu started 41 times for the Baggies in the league last season and was a vital cog in Corberan’s play-off side. There is a growing reluctance at the Hawthorns that Yokuslu will leave the club this summer and will need to cash in to avoid losing him for nothing next year.

The 30-year-old has plenty of suitors both in England and Turkey ready to make a move for the midfielder. A deal matching the club’s valuation will soften the blow for West Brom fans who would prefer the club to renew his contract.

Speculation will persist on the midfielder’s future as the transfer window ticks on and the hope that he will put pen to paper on a new deal will grow. But regardless if Yokuslu is sold this summer, it cannot under any circumstances be to a Championship rival.
