Okay Yokuslu West Brom exit could be confirmed in hours

Okay Yokuslu’s West Brom exit could be confirmed in the coming hours amid interest from Trabzonspor, according to Spor Safya.

The Turkish outlet reported [19 July] that Trabzonspor convinced the player to move back to the Super Lig amid interest from Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

It is understood that Yokuslu has made it clear that he would be open to leaving the Baggies this summer, with the intention of returning to Turkey [Yagiz Sabuncuoglu].

Okay Yokuslu set for Turkey return as West Brom exit looms

Carlos Corberan and the Baggies are set for a huge blow if Yokuslu is to leave The Hawthorns this summer and he will be incredibly missed by the passionate fanbase.

The 30-year-old has become a mainstay in Corberan’s starting XI since returning on a full-time deal two years ago, chipping in with five goals during that time.

The midfield duo of Yokuslu and Alex Mowatt formed the base of Corberan’s team last season, helping the Baggies to break into the Championship play-off spots before losing out to Southampton.

While Ousmane Diakite has arrived at The Hawthorns already – another defensive midfielder – West Brom will struggle to find a figure to replace Yokuslu in the middle of the park.

However, at 30 years of age, it could be the right time to part ways with the midfielder and bring a fresh face into the squad instead, keeping the squad youth as they battle for promotion.

Okay Yokuslu was a firm fan favourite at West Brom.

While Yokuslu is by no means losing his energy, the player having just 12 months left on his current contract puts the Baggies in a difficult position this summer.

West Brom could keep hold of him until next summer, though that would mean losing him on a free transfer. With a backup already acquired, it could make more sense to cash in this summer instead.
