Cedric Kipre transfer update shared by Fabrizio Romano as West Brom contract ends
Cedric Kipre is set to undergo his medical at Stade Reims after his deal at West Brom ran out in June, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The reliable transfer specialist took to X on 24 July to claim that the 27-year-old’s medical has been scheduled for Thursday, 25 July.
The French centre-back has agreed on a deal with the Ligue 1 outfit and will not be continuing at the Hawthorns.
Romano wrote: “Former West Brom defender Cedric Kipre will sign as new Stade Reims player on Thursday.
“Medical tests booked tomorrow, deal agreed.”
West Brom would have loved to have had Cedric Kipre for another season
The Baggies offered the 27-year-old a new contract as they revealed in their retained list but he perhaps did not want another year of second-tier football.
Reims finished in the top half last season and would aim for a European qualification in the upcoming campaign.
This would undoubtedly excite Kipre and the option to move closer to his family would’ve been too hard to turn down.
The Baggies will miss Kipre for his defensive prowess and consistency as he was a standout performer last season, featuring in 48 games.
His ability to read the game and win aerial duels was invaluable.
Moreover, his leadership and reliability in the back line were essential for the team’s success.
Losing Kipre will leave a significant gap in the defence that will be challenging to fill, affecting the team’s overall performance and stability.
In other West Brom news, a first-team player is not a part of Carlos Corberan’s plans and is likely to seal a loan exit this summer.
