West Brom eye summer Sory Kaba transfer as Las Palmas exit update emerges

West Brom are interested in signing Sory Kaba after he was deemed surplus to requirements at Las Palmas, according to La Provincia.

The Spanish outlet reported in its print edition on Thursday (25 July, page 35) that the Baggies, alongside Championship rivals Sheffield United and Cardiff City, are keen on securing the striker this summer.

Carlos Corberan’s side are understood to be leading the race currently and Kaba is said to be interested in making a return to the Championship having spent time on loan with the Bluebirds in the past.

Will West Brom sign Sory Kaba amid summer transfer speculation?

Kaba has been linked with a move to The Hawthorns in the past. Only 12 months ago, reports suggested the Baggies were interested in signing the 29-year-old after his impressive loan spell in South Wales [Express & Star, 31 July 2023].

For whatever reason, that deal never managed to come to fruition and Corberan was left with just Brandon Thomas-Asante and Josh Maja as his first-team striking options for the entirety of the Championship campaign.

While both players are effective when fit, Albion could still do with another attacking addition this summer and Kaba would offer a completely different dimension at the top end of the pitch with his physical presence.

The forward’s career has stalled slightly since he joined Las Palmas, but throughout his career, he has been effective in front of goal and that is something both Maja and Thomas-Asante have lacked.

In just 17 games with Cardiff, Kaba found the net on eight occasions. If he could stretch that run of form out over an entire campaign, he could help fire the Baggies into the playoff race once again.

If he is as keen on a move to the Championship as has been reported, agreeing personal terms shouldn’t be an issue either.
