West Brom in pole position to sign midfielder loved by Frank Lampard
West Brom are leading Preston in the race to bring Standard Liege midfielder Isaac Price back to England, according to the Belfast Telegraph.
Writing on their website (25 July), the Baggies have opened talks with the Belgian side over a deal for the 20-year-old.
The Northern Ireland international left Everton last summer to move to Belgium and made 39 appearances for Standard Liege with one goal and two assists in all competitions.
West Brom are in pole position for Price but will face competition from Preston North End for his signature.
Midfielder Frank Lampard ‘loved’ at Everton set for West Brom move
According to the Liverpool ECHO, Frank Lampard loved Price during his time as Everton manager and handed the midfielder his first team berth at Goodison Park.
Price made three first-team appearances under Lampard and featured against Boreham Wood, Arsenal, and Brighton before ending his 12-year stay on Merseyside.
It proved to be the right decision as he became a regular in the Juliper Pro League and made 12 appearances for his country, scoring two goals.
Carlos Corberan could add a young midfielder with Premier League experience for the cheap cost of £1.7m.

West Brom have already added Ousmane Diakite to their midfield ranks following Nathaniel Chalobah and Yan M’vila leaving the Hawthorns this summer.
Price moved to Europe in search of first team opportunities that disappeared under Sean Dyche at Everton, that type of fearlessness and determination would be warmly welcomed at West Brom.
With speculation surrounding the future of Okay Yokuslu, the Baggies are preparing for life without the Turkish midfielder and a replacement 10 years younger with top-flight experience across two top leagues would be a massive coup for Corberan.
If Price can live up to his Everton potential at the Hawthorns, a fee of under £2m could prove to be one of the bargains of the summer in the English second-tier.
In other West Brom news, a first-team player is not a part of Carlos Corberan’s plans and is likely to seal a loan exit this summer.
