Okay Yokuslu to leave West Brom as personal terms and transfer now both fully agreed
Okay Yokuslu is heading to Trabzonspor after his exit from West Brom was sorted with the club and with the player, according to Sabah Spor.
The Turkish outlet reported via X on 29 July that the midfielder’s arrival at the Super Lig club was now planned after agreement was reached “on every issue”.
The 30-year-old has been linked with an exit from The Hawthorns throughout the summer while featuring for his country at Euro 2024 and it looks to now be imminent.
He had been a man in demand during the transfer window and was previously thought close to a Besiktas move [Ertan Süzgün, 5 July] but it is their Turkish rivals who have secured a deal.
Carlos Corberan to lose key West Brom ace ahead of new season
Shilen Patel was up front with fans over the finances at the club despite his long-awaited takeover going through last season, publishing an open letter on 13 June.
So the Albion doesn’t have the luxury of ignoring offers even for players who Carlos Corberan would surely prefer to keep.
At the same time the play off defeat which consigned the Baggies to another season in the Championship would always make them vulnerable to offers from clubs who can offer European football.
Trabzonspor have been ambitious during the transfer window as they have brought in former Atletico Madrid star Stefan Savic and Rangers duo John Lundstrum and Borna Barisic among others.
So for Yokuslu at this stage of his career it is not a huge shock that he might be interested in a move back to his home country to play in Europe and challenge for a top flight title.
Equally, having entered the final year of his contract at The Hawthorns it put the pressure on West Brom to get a proper fee for him while they still could.
They have held out for the right bid but that looks to have now arrived and after signing Ousmane Diakité on a free transfer it remains to be seen if Corberan plans to fill the gap that is left behind with another new arrival.
The club managed to come through the threat of losing the manager earlier in the window but are still at risk of seeing other important players such as Brandon Thomas-Asante go [Sky Sports, 29 July].
In other West Brom news, the Baggies could now pursue a deal to bring back a former loanee before the transfer deadline.
