Blackburn Rovers make Andi Weimann transfer decision after West Brom exit
Blackburn Rovers are looking at Andi Weimann on trial ahead of the transfer deadline following his West Brom exit, according to Alan Nixon.
The journalist reported via his Patreon page on Monday (29 July) that Rovers boss John Eustace is casting his eye over the Austrian international following his loan spell at The Hawthorns last season.
Weimann left Bristol City as a free agent at the end of the Championship season after six seasons in the South-West and is yet to join a new club.
Reports had suggested the Baggies were considering re-signing the 32-year-old this summer, despite facing competition from two European clubs including Italian side Udinese [Alex Crook, 9 July].
Will West Brom re-sign Andi Weimann in the summer transfer window?
While Weimann didn’t manage to hit the heights of fellow January loanee Mikey Johnston at The Hawthorns, the versatile forward did manage to have a primarily positive impact in his time in the Midlands.
However, had Carlos Corberan been desperate to tie him down to a permanent contract, that would have likely already happened by now given the fact the Austrian was already running down his Bristol City deal while on loan at the Baggies.
Weimann himself appeared to be eager to stay at The Hawthorns beyond his initial loan spell and had suggested as much early in his time with the Baggies, but for whatever reason he seems to be heading elsewhere.

Perhaps there could be another twist if Blackburn decide not to offer the 32-year-old a new deal once his trial period comes to an end. Maybe then the Baggies could be tempted to swoop in and secure the attacker’s signature.
If not, they could well be facing the former Bristol City man at Ewood Park in just a few months’ time.
