Brandon Thomas-Asante exit twist emerges at West Brom amid Hull City transfer links

West Brom are understood to have not yet received an official bid for Brandon Thomas-Asante, according to Lewis Cox.

The Express and Star journalist reported on Tuesday (30 July) that despite links with Hull City, the Baggies are yet to receive a genuine offer for the 25-year-old striker this summer.

Championship rivals Hull are admirers of the former Salford City man, who is entering the final year of his contract at The Hawthorns, while Southampton have also been credited with an interest in him.

Reports had emerged that the Tigers had lodged a £2.5million offer for Thomas-Asante this summer and while Albion don’t want to lose their frontman, they may find it hard to turn down that sort of offer [Hull Live, 29 July].

Will Brandon Thomas-Asante exit West Brom amid transfer interest?

It isn’t clear whether or not West Brom have actually received a bid for Thomas-Asante this summer or not as journalists don’t quite seem able to agree on whether or not Hull have made a genuine offer for the forward.

The Tigers are undoubtedly admirers of the 25-year-old and in an ideal world they would more than likely be eager to bring him to the MKM Stadium, but they could well be admirers of several strikers available for the same fee.

Most Championship clubs would be interested in signing a striker who hit double figures for that sort of fee and with only a year left on his contract at The Hawthorns, Albion are going to have a serious decision to make.

If Carlos Corberan’s side are as eager to keep the forward as has been reported, they simply have to tie him down to a new deal sooner rather than later so they don’t have to run the risk of losing him for nothing in 12 months’ time.

A new contract will also drive up his price this summer and ensure that it will be much harder for Hull City or any other club to prize him away from The Hawthorns.
