Okay Yokuslu spotted in foreign airport as West Brom star edges closer to exit

Okay Yokuslu has been spotted at Istanbul Airport as he edges closer to leaving West Brom, according to Yağız Sabuncuoğlu.

The Sport Digitale journalist shared an image of Yokuslu, 30, in Turkey’s biggest city on Tuesday night (30 July) amid speculation linking him with a move to Trabzonspor.

It’s likely that the midfielder will need to hop on another flight to Trabzon, which is over 600 miles to the east of Istanbul.

Yokuslu was spotted earlier on Tuesday at Birmingham Airport and a Turkish Airlines flight landed in Istanbul at 7:40pm.

Okay Yokuslu exit from West Brom all but done

There aren’t any flights from Birmingham to Trabzon so it’s likely that Yokusulu will need to hop on another flight at some point.

He may well be spending the night in Istanbul but either way, it looks as though he’s said his goodbyes to West Brom and is on his way out of The Hawthorns forever.

Sabah journalist Yunus Emre Sel reported on 29 July that Trabzonspor have agreed a £1.35million fee with the Baggies for the ex-Celta Vigo midfielder.

A lot of fans aren’t happy with the fee given how well Yokuslu has done in the Black Country. However, this is a player who’s now in his 30s and would leave for free next year if he didn’t sign a new deal.

On top of that, Yokuslu was one of West Brom’s highest earners and due to PSR, the club has no choice but to offload players who are going to be a bit of a money pit for the next year or so.

Yokuslu could have helped us win promotion to the Premier League if he stayed. But if we didn’t manage our finances properly, kept him and didn’t go up, the consequences could have been severe.

All in all, he had to go. We would have liked to have seen the Albion pocketing more money but hopefully, the money can now be reinvested in someone young and hungry who can score some goals.

In other West Brom news, Albion have let a “highly-rated” player leave on loan despite Corberan being a huge fan.
