Sory Kaba bid accepted by Las Palmas as West Brom transfer mooted

West Brom are one of the clubs who have declared interest in striker Sory Kaba as a £1.3million bid is accepted for the UD Las Palmas forward.

Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop posted on X (30 July) to state that an unnamed EFL Championship club have seen their £1.3million offer for ex-Cardiff forward Kaba accepted by Las Palmas, but didn’t know who.

Witcoop added that Sheffield Wednesday have a long-standing interest in the 29-year-old Guinea international, but the Albion were also alerted to his availability having pursued the striker last summer [La Provincia, 25 July].

West Brom could make statement with Sory Kaba transfer

Given a number of Championship sides have all expressed their interest in Kaba – and one mystery club have had a bid accepted – whoever does secure his signature will be getting one over on their rivals.

Particularly in Albion’s case, beating the likes of the two Sheffield clubs to the singing of Kaba would be a clear showing of strength as Carlos Corberan’s side look to build on their fifth-place finish last season.

Relegated Sheffield United may be starting the new campaign with a two-point deduction but are still expected to challenge for promotion, while Danny Rohl’s Wednesday side could be a surprise package.

Given the Baggies’ initial keenness on signing Kaba stemmed from his loan spell with Cardiff in 2022/23 [Daily Mirror, 1 August 2023], preventing the striker from making a return to the Bluebirds would also be a show of intent from Albion.

Corberan’s side were the only one of the four sides not to be troubled by relegation last season, and if they want to make the play-offs (at least) once again, Kaba could prove to be the difference-maker.

In other West Brom news, a club in the South-East has signed one Baggies midfielder after his exit from The Hawthorns this summer.
