West Brom agree fee with Hull City for Brandon Thomas-Asante transfer

West Brom have agreed a £3million fee with Hull City for the sale of Brandon Thomas-Asante, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The Football Insider correspondent reported on Tuesday (30 July) that the Tigers have upped an initial £2.5m offer for the Ghana international (Football Insider) and a full agreement is now close.

The former Salford City striker, 25, is into the final 12 months of his contract at The Hawthorns, having joined in August 2022.

West Brom need a Brandon Thomas-Asante replacement fast

There is absolutely no dressing up the fact that losing Thomas-Asante just a couple of weeks before the new Championship season is a blow to the Baggies and boss Carlos Corberan.

He has had his critics at times during his two-year stint at the club but he has also been the top scorer in both campaigns during that time.

With Daryl Dike still sidelined by a long-term injury and Josh Maja having missed a large chunk of the previous campaign with his injury issues, it leaves Corberan especially short of options up top if Thomas-Asante also moves on.

There have been links to the likes of Las Palmas striker Sory Kaba and Leicester City forward Tom Cannon and there will be a huge urgency to bolster Corberan’s forward line if this deal gets done.

With 12 months left to go on his contract, you can understand the reasoning for cashing in but the Baggies face their Championship curtain-raiser at QPR on 10 August and a replacement must be brought in by then.

In other West Brom news, an eight-figure fee has reportedly been accepted for another Baggies ace.
